Underwater Minnesota

Big Island Site Survey

In July 2007, UnderwaterMinneota.com took part in a brief site survey of the Big Island Amusement Park site at Lake Minnetonka in conjunction with Maritime Heritage Minnesota

Constructed in the early 1900’s, the park was a popular destination for tourists.  It was served by many steamboats that provided the backbone of a vast transportation system on Lake Minnetonka in this time period.

Today, there are remnants that still exist of those important days of Minnesota’s nautical past.
