Christmas Lake

Christmas Lake is located in the Twin Cities metro area near Excelsior, MN.  This is a relatively small lake and though it is spring-fed, has somewhat limited visibility, especially later in the season.

 

Almost all of the land around the lake is privately owned, making the public landing on the northwest shore the only access point.  The most interesting parts of the lake to dive are on the southeastern shore, so a boat is desirable.

 

Directions to Christmas Lake

 

From the metro area, follow Hwy 7 west towards Excelsior.  Just before reaching Excelsior, you will see the DNR sign for the public landing at Christmas Lake.

 

Note that the parking lot for the landing is very small and cannot accommodate many cars.  It might be necessary to unload your gear at the landing and park close by.

 

Dive Location :  south of Excelsior, MN

Depth : average 30 feet, Max 87 feet

Visibility : averages 6-8 feet
